i agree angels would have been a good match. don;t know if it still makes sense w/o making a bunch of other moves, not that a bunch of other moves don't need to be made.

at what point do they cut their losses on chen...maybe move him to the pen? i can definitely say that chen and lopez back to back is KILLING the bullpen.

Zachary-

I happen to think that, as is, the O's are unlikely to compete throughout the entirety of Tejada's contract. So why not roll the dice and try to acquire two or three decent-to-good young players for him. Then, take the money you save on his contract and try to replace his offense wherever you can fit in a FA whenever you expect to contend.

Kilbs-

I think we're on the same page on this one. I happen to think trading Tejada could be best for the franchise(if done right); him shooting his mouth off just gives the O's a good excuse to do it.

I think the FO has to be realistic in answering this question: Can the Orioles really contend for a ring in the next two years? If they can, then it makes sense to keep Tejada. If they cannot, they I think you ask for a king's ransom in the off-season when the FA market is slim. Hopefully that will make it a seller's market, but I've been completely wrong in that regard in the past.

I think you try to acquire two top infield prospects for Tejada. There are some teams that match up, notably the Angels. I really wonder what offers Flanny received for Tejada this off-season. I would trade him not because of what he said, but rather his overall value to the team in the long term. Also, the fact that he didn't go to Elrod's funeral and he said those things during the whole thing really spoke ill of his character, but again, I trade him for the long term interest of the franchise, not because he shot his mouth off.

Two things.

1) I don't think the O's should move Tejada in July. There is no one remotely in thepipeline to play shortstop, and buying a mediocre FA will not help this team.

2) Apparently Tejada isn't that happy; he just jogged on his way to first again.

I forgot to add this-

I was on the road for the entirety of the ballgame yesterday. Apparently the umpiring was less than ideal and Joe Angel had this to say:

"I think I found the umpire's cell phone. I can tell it's his because of all the missed calls on it."

I liked it.
